Maharjan elected President of Valley Mayors’ Forum

Kathmandu. Lalitpur Metropolitan City’s Mayor Chiribabu Maharjan has been elected President of the Kathmandu Valley Mayors’ Forum.
The meeting of the Forum concluded on Thursday elected Basudev Thapa (Mayor of Surya Binayak Municipality) the Vice-President post, Ghanashyam Giri (Mayor of Chandragiri Municipality) the general-secretary and Prakhash Adhikari (Mayor of Tokha Municipality) secretary, according to the Forum.
Similarly, Krishna Hari Maharjan (Mayor of Tarakeshwor Municipality) is the Treasurer of the Forum while Surendra Shrestha, Mayor of Madhyapur Thimi Municipality is the general-secretary.
Other elected members in the Forum are mayors and deputy mayors of remaining municipalities in the Valley.
The network of mayors and deputy mayors of metropolitan-cities, Sub-metropolitan cities and municipalities in the Kathmandu Valley elected a new executive committee.
In the first meeting of the newly elected executive committee of the Forum, they decided to install automatic vehicle detection and monitoring system in Nagdhunga, the main entrance to Kathmandu Valley. The estimated project cost is Rs 20 million.
